Our story told by practice owner, Paroo Mistry

The Oakwood Clinic’s story began in 1978 with a vision fueled by love and determination. My mum, Nalini Mistry, turned the garage of our family home at 19 Reservoir Road into A1 Emergency Dental Practice. By choosing a name that secured her spot at the top of the Yellow Pages, she quickly became the go-to dentist for urgent care.

Her reputation for skill and compassion spread fast, making her the reliable, always-available dentist for everyone, from Premier League footballers to Bollywood stars.

A new chapter

In 2002, after I graduated as a dentist, I was eager to pursue my dream of becoming a consultant orthodontist. Mum was ready to pass the practice on, but I encouraged her to sell it. She had a different feeling, though, knowing I would eventually return.

And she was right.

After completing my consultant training, I returned in 2012, bringing my passion for orthodontics with me. I expanded the clinic’s services, continuing general dentistry with a great team and introducing a broader range of treatments.

Continuing Nalini’s legacy

In July 2024, we lost mum, but her pride in the clinic’s growth and our team’s dedication remains. As we move forward, we are committed to continuing her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for helping others. Our mission is to serve the community with the same care that Nalini so lovingly provided.

The Oakwood Clinic will always be a place where smiles are transformed, lives are changed, and patients feel like family. It’s not just about dentistry – it’s about changing lives one smile at a time.
